Embossing Folder Changes

Changes to the Embossing Folders!

Stampin’ Up! Has changed vendors for their embossing folders.  Formerly the 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folders now simply called 3D Embossing Folders.  They are thinner now yet they still give a nice deep impression on your papers. They can be found in the 2019-2020 on pp. 198-199. They are orange ones.
How Does this affect me?
With this change, when using them through the Big Shot, or other emboss/die cutting machines, you need to add a little extra thickness to the “sandwich”.

To help alleviate the problem, Stampin' Up! came out with the new Embossing Plate.  You use this one instead of the clear plate (at least in the Big Shot--other machines may be different)

Previously the “sandwich” was platform, folder, cutting plate.  Since these new folders are slightly thinner this no longer works and sandwiching them between 2 plates doesn’t work either.  What many people were trying to do was to add some other kind of material to get a little more thickness to their “sandwich”. The solution was to come up with a plate with the correct thickness.
How will I know which is which?
If you have some of both the 3D style folders you’ll know the difference because the old ones not only are thicker, but they also have the Sizzix name on them.  The new ones only carry the Stampin’ Up! Name.
Does this change affect the Standard Textured Folders?
NO.  The Standard Textured folders (the ones in Purple Posy in the catalog) are still sandwiched the same way between two cutting pads.
I can’t find it in the Catalog?
It is not yet in the current catalog. It is item # 149658, and it costs $10.  If you do a lot of embossing, I highly recommend adding this embossing plate to your next order.

Currently not all of the 3D Embossing Folders are available for ordering but hopefully they will be in stock soon.
